RFQ Notes:
I represent a manufacturer in Budapest that is the world's largest supplier of ceramic faucet cartridges used by faucet manufacturers. (Their largest customer in the U.S. is Moen.) They have developed a special cartridge for use in shower valves that requires mating stainless steel parts. Traditionally, such parts have been machined, but my supplier is finding the combination of quality and pricing unacceptable from current sources.
Because of the shape of these parts, they appear to be possible candidates for a precision eyelet process. The attached drawings are marked up revisions machined parts originally designed to be machined. Please look them over to see if they could be made using your process:
Notes:
1. Wall thickness can be thinner, if necessary
2. The slots shapes were made assuming a milling operation. We understand that if these were to be formed by piercing, the shape of the remaining web areas would be slightly different (this would be acceptable).
3. The ends of the slots could be rounded, which would be preferable to us, and probably to you.
4. The material would be type 303 stainless steel (exact type to be determined).
Our question: can these parts be made using your process, and if so, can you hold the tolerances indicated, and provide with the surface finish indicated?
This product is already in production (using machined parts). Estimated quantities for the first year are in the range of 100,000 to 250,000 sets. This is expected to multiply by many times in the years following.
