A buyer in the Fabricated Metals industry located in Surrey, British Columbia Canada successfully sourced for the Casting of a part called Base on www.MFG.com
Request for Quote Details:
 |
The specific Casting process that was specified is Near Net Shape Casting. |
 |
The specified material is Metal-Other. |
 |
This RFQ was for 50, 100, and 150 Each. The estimated annual usage is 1,000. |
RFQ Notes:
Production of a base. Approximately 13" O.D. x 34"
long.
Please see drawing Drawing R7736 IRON for dimensions and
specifications.
Please see some photos of current production attached -
these are currently being fabricated from steel pipe.
Material: Ductile Iron: ASTM A536, Grade 65-45-12
The dimensions shown on drawing R7736 IRON are finished
sizes, and all EXTERIOR surfaces require machining.
As Buyer requires that quotes are for supplying finished
(machined)parts, it is up to the foundry and machine shop
to
determine the most efficient and economical level of
machining allowance to be added to the machined surfaces.
Calculated weight for this part is 112 lbs. each
(finished weight). The actual casting weight will depend
on
the level of machining allowance added to the exterior.
Quote qty = 50 pcs. or 100 pcs. or 150 pcs. per order.
Estimated annual usage = 1,000 pcs.
The country of origin name must be cast into the castings
(inside). The location of this lettering is not important
and not defined - it can be placed anywhere on the interior
surface that is desirable by the foundry, as long as it is
easily seen from the outside and is legible in the finished
product.
Buyer is open to exploring a variety of molding methods for
this part (i.e. sand casting, v-process, etc.), as long as
the surface finish and appearance of these castings is very
high.
The finished castings shall be smooth, free of injurious
defects, and shall conform substantially to the dimensions
of the drawing. The outside surfaces should be machined to
achieve a surface finish of 125 RMS minimum.
Outside surfaces need to be inspected to ensure no
unacceptable cracks or voids are present.
Parts must pass NDT using MPI; criteria = ASTM A903, Level
1. Voids (nonlinear indications) larger than 1/16" in dia.
are not acceptable and will require welding and smooth
grinding before shipping. Cracks (linear indications)
longer than 1/16" are not acceptable and will require
welding and smooth grinding before shipping.
No coating or special surface treatments are required.
No filler materials can be added to the surface to fill
voids, and no paint or powder coat of any type can be used
to cover these castings.
Ideally, the repair of voids, cracks and/or other defects
should be taken care of prior to machining to ensure the
most consistent finished surface is present.
Please quote pricing FOB the closest Port of Exit
Quote new pattern/set up costs as a separate line item.
Buyer would be very interested to hear about any ideas or
proposals that might have to improve the
surface quality/appearance of this part.
Please advise production and delivery times in price
quote. Buyer will need to know the pattern construction
time, production time for first sample, and upon approval
of
the sample - the time it will take to produce the first 100
pcs. of these bases.
A sample will have to be produced (and shipped COLLECT to
us
via AIR FREIGHT) for approval prior to full production
taking place.
Quote deadline: March 2nd, 2007.
