RFQ Notes:
Molding of a composite beam. Approximately 6" wide x 3"
tall x 36" long. An "I" beam is constructed of two pieces
of the attached drawing [ "U" channel]. The
material is composite carbon fiber glass. The resultant
beam will support a significant load,
and therefore must be a strong as possible. The beam
thickness will be determined after stress analysis of the
selected material and construction
method.
The final beam will consist of 5 - three foot sections [
total 15 feet]. At the end of the beam
is a 45 pound load. The beam sections will be attached
with cast aluminum attach plates.
The base end of the beam will be supporting about 675 foot-
pounds of torque.
