RFQ Notes:
Production of a grasshopper spool. Manufacturer has gone
out of business. Looking for a new vendor to forge new
and lasting relationship. First 3 images show original
prototype design. Would like to change design to that
shown in 4th file. Requires 4 molded parts.
Inner cylinder rotates inside outer shell. Inner cylinder
will have a 3M "dual-lock" material attached.
Vendor must research method for attachment of 3M material.
Unit must be constructed from UV stabilized material and
should be impact and crack resistant. Unit probably made
from polypropylene, perhaps Exxon PP1052 or Basell Profax
6323.
Some additional designing and testing required.
Prototyping needs to continue with new vendor.
Rough dimensions - 2.75" long x 1.25" OD.
For clarification, the unit shown in the CAD files is the
OLD design. We would like to change the design to that
shown in the cartoon drawings, ie to a shape more like a
cigar or large pill.
We also require the unit to have the narrow stem that bulges
at the end rather than the thicker stem.
The reason for posting these CADs was that we recently
changed the design and do not have detialed renderings. All
of other specs remain the same.
An addition we'd like to make that was overlooked when
posting this RFQ is that we'd also like the unit to "click"
as the inner cylinder is turned. Not a loud click, but
rather like that of a fishing reel. perhaps by a flange
rubbing on a cog-like molded part molded into the inner
cylinder.
