A buyer in the Automotive industry located in
Denver, Colorado United States successfully sourced for the Mold Making of a part called Card App on www.MFG.com
Request for Quote Details:
 |
The specific Mold Making process that was specified is Injection Mold Making. |
 |
The specified material is Metal-Steel. |
 |
This RFQ was for 1 Each. The estimated annual usage is 1. |
RFQ Notes:
Production of a mold. Part is roughly 3" wide x 4" long x
0.11" thick. Please see drawing for specific dimensions.
This product line is currently produced in a 2 cavity mold
and the buyer wants to create an 8 cavity.
injection mold to produce this part. Plastic
production will be done by the buyer’s company;
this quote is for creating an 8-cavity injection mold.
The part is very simple and offers little
difficulty. It will run in a 300 ton machine whose
specifications the buyer can provide for the supplier
later. A CAD file of this part is attached. Please lay
it out for 8 cavities as the supplier sees best. The
buyer has an odd little item attached at the corner where
the buyer wants it gated with a tab gate. This odd little
item will be trimmed off and is simply a trimming
aid to help prevent the machine operator from leaving a
rough gate which is currently an
issue with the part. As this is a flat part it is
difficult to keep the plastic flat after molding and
needs a fat runner to allow maximum cavity pressure
without flashing. The buyer regrinds the
runners so the size of the runner is not a cost concern.
The buyer currently make this part in 5 colors out of
HDPE, TPE, and Delrin. It is their experience
that the part needs large gates to get as much cavity
pressure as possible as this along with
an extended cycle time is what is needed to keep it flat.
Consideration should be given to having plenty of cooling
capacity to improve cycle time. The part carries a simple
bead blasted finish (fine satin) but no machine scratches
can be detectable. The part also features a circular
feature in the middle of one side that is only .005" deep
and is largely decorative but could serve as an ejector
pin location. In any event the finished part must have
this feature exactly like the model. Finish should be
polished on this feature and not bead blasted like the
rest of the cavity. On the buyer’s current 2 cavity
mold, they are only ejecting on the runner. This mold
should be made of P-20 steel or the equivalent and does
not need a plated finish. Buyer will be happy to furnish
additional information upon request.
