FROM START TO FINISH... We have found that one of our biggest advantages is the fact that we are a very versatile shop. We have the capabilities to start a project in the design phase and see it through to the finished product. Most of the work is done here so there is less of a chance of a problem, as we have more control over the manufacture. Because we do many types of work, we are also able of finding any improper fits between machined and sheet metal parts. We have the knowledge to make small intricate parts right up to very large multiple part welded cabinet assemblies and structures. Our customers appreciate the input that is given to them regarding cost saving and easier manufacturing suggestions. We are a build to print shop, so we are also able to spot problems on a first piece basis, before a costly production run. Illini Wire Works, Inc. is a wire forming and cold heading job shop with customers in such diverse industries as electronics, agricultural machinery, bicycle components, tackle and utility molded plastic boxes, lawn and garden equipment, automotive equipment, industrial compressors and power sources, earth moving equipment and steel storage systems and point of purchase displays.
In addition to a complete machine shop (which services our manufacturing and designs and builds our tooling), we have wire forming and bending equipment, threading equipment, cold headers, roll forming equipment, punch presses and welding equipment. Our Coordinate Measuring System tests the critical dimensions of a part and automatically compares them to the accepted standard. Wisco uses a computer based statistical process control network that is run by press operators and monitored by our quality assurance department. Using electronic gauges and other measuring devices, operators feed production information into the computer during the run. The software instantaneously interprets this information and provides statistical analysis of the accuracy of the production run while in process. These programs assure Wisco customers of getting parts to the specification they require. Wisco parts can move directly to the production line without need for time-consuming testing and evaluation. As a result, Wisco is being certified by more and more of its customers. Our constant monitoring of the production process means Wisco can anticipate maintenance or replacement of production dies and equipment-further reducing the possibility of downtime or delays.
