eSourcing Update

10/09/06

This past quarter we successfully completed the acquisition of Geneva-based SourcingParts.com, an on demand sourcing platform and marketplace primarily serving the European manufacturing community. This transaction has combined the two largest online marketplaces into a single global community through which more than $5 billion in manufacturing services was sourced in the past year alone. The combined company will allow buyers and suppliers from around the world to do even more business on a global scale.

MFG.com Improving Customer Experience

As we are continuing to expand, we have made several updates to our site in an effort to make it easier for our buyers and suppliers to do business on a global scale. Updates include global currency templates which allow buyers to create RFQs in their currency of choice as well as country specific capabilities allowing both buyers and suppliers to see RFQs and award information relevant to their specific region.

Industry News

According to the latest Manufacturing ISM Report on Business, economic activity in the manufacturing sector grew in September for the 40th consecutive month, while the overall economy grew for the 59th consecutive month.

The report was issued by Norbert J. Ore, C.P.M., chair of the Institute for Supply Management Manufacturing Business Survey Committee. "The manufacturing sector continues on a trend of slowing growth in September. While there was little change in new orders and production when compared to August, significant slowing took place in employment and inventories. It's apparent that manufacturing is losing momentum and feeling the effects of higher interest rates and a weaker housing market."

In Europe, according to Eurostat, "the euro area industrial new orders index increased by 1.8% in July 2006 compared to June 2006. The index decreased by 2.2% in June and rose by 2.8% in May. EU25 new orders grew by 1.6% in July 2006, after a fall of 1.0% in June and a rise of 2.4% in May. Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment industrial new orders grew by 1.1% in July 2006 in the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU25."
