FourSlide Die Overview

What is FourSlide Die?
Fourslides are unique in the fact that when raw material is being fed into it, it is fed upright (or vertical), unlike a Progressive die which receives the raw material flat (or horizontal). This results in less scrap, because more of the raw material can be utilized for the form.

Fourslides are designed to produce parts requiring blanking, piercing, or other machine operations in addition to forming. Fourslide machines combine a horizontal press with four forming slides, a highly efficient combination.
The material usually (but not always) starts out by running through a die. The Fourslide die can be smaller than a Progressive die, resulting in a quicker build time, set-up time, as well as, a substantial cost savings.

Once the material has gone through the die, it then goes to the tooling area. The tooling area can consist of 4 individual slides (front, back, left, and right), a center post (or king post), and a cutter. The cam-driven tools are timed to form the part against the center post, then release the final part once all operations have been completed.
