What is Fabrication / Swaging?

Swaging is used to reduce or increase the diameter of tubes and/or rods, typically such that the swaged part can slide into or over a mating component.

Swaging is done by placing a tube or rod inside a swaging die that applies compressive force radially. Swaging can expand diameters by placing a mandrel inside a tube and applying radial compressive forces. Swaging on the inner diameter can be a different shape than on the outside diameter.
