Metal Bonding Overview

What is metal bonding?
Two metals of the same of different type may be bonded together to form a joint. Metal characteristics can change when another material is bonded to the metal. Rubber may be bonded to metal. Rubber to metal bonding is often done to reduce noise and vibration.

Adhesives are used to bond metal to metal or to bond rubber to metal. Steel usually forms a stronger bond than does aluminum. Epoxies, methacrylates and two part acrylic adhesives are common metal bonding adhesives.
